Mission Overview:
RAK-01 and RAK-02 joined forces with TFA & Skunks and were tasked with ambiguous mission objectives during Operation GOTA Vs World – Opfor. Despite lacking specific timelines, the team proceeded with the mission, relying on their adaptability and initiative.
Key Events:
1. Initial Securing of the Field:
– While distractions surrounded the arrival of the helicopter and photo sessions, OPFOR seized the opportunity to secure the field.
– After clearing the Northeast corner, a valuable GOTA asset was discovered and safely escorted back to the OPFOR Command Post (CP).
2. Assistance and Betrayal:
– Throughout the day, OPFOR alternated between aiding and betraying both GOTA and the Military side, fulfilling their task to support the highest bidder.
– An element of chaos was introduced when medication allowed OPFOR to enter buildings, resulting in skirmishes and light casualties in the 2-Storey and gym areas.
3. Technical Acquisition:
– A quick assault mission around 1600 allowed OPFOR to steal a Technical, which they successfully retained for the remainder of the event.
4. Night Operations:
– RAK-02 provided essential support on the Technical during night operations, capitalizing on their LMG and new night vision equipment.
– OPFOR, shedding their gloves, played aggressively during the night, exploiting the lack of nighttime capabilities in enemy forces.
5. Blue on Blue Incident:
– During the night, RAK-01 and a Skunk member executed an unintentional Blue on Blue, emphasizing the need for improved PID (Positive Identification) protocols.
6. Morning Operations and Building Assault:
– In the morning, OPFOR, adopting a neutral stance, found themselves under fire from a Rooftop Support Team upon entering the field with lawn chairs.
– After gaining access to the building, OPFOR secured the location, cleared the 2-Storey, and assaulted the Kitchen/Cafeteria area.
Conclusion:
Despite ending the game a few points behind the Military, OPFOR demonstrated adaptability and resourcefulness throughout the operation. Lessons learned included the importance of extra comms, a robust PID system for night operations, and the necessity of self-reliance for essential supplies such as fire starters.
Recommendations:
1. Further research and implementation of an improved PID system for nighttime operations.
2. Ensure team members bring extra comms for effective communication.
3. Self-sufficiency in essential supplies, such as fire starters, is crucial.
4. Continued emphasis on adaptability and quick decision-making in dynamic environments.
